Welcome to CBBToday's Newsletter of Enchantment
We're dead, but reanimated, and somehow still trying... maybe?
Hey, friends.
Let’s get a few things out of the way real quick since most of you guys were members of CBBToday’s newsletter. This is that, but different. As most of you have read, the website was murdered due to numerous reasons. You can read this for the fuller explanation.
For what’s happening now, why your newsletter is now through Substack and with actual words, let me be honest about a few things.
Having covered college basketball for roughly a decade, CBBToday was my hope to have creative freedom to cover whatever and whoever we wanted without having to bow down to SEO and clickbait gods. It was also meant to be a lot of other things, too.
Unfortunately for me, I’m not a businessperson and started losing some loot.
We moved over to ClutchPoints; though some complaints came in by a few of our loyal readers. Mostly that the ads and site were too difficult to navigate. All fair issues.
Anyway, speaking for myself, I’m in a position where financial stability is important, but creative freedom is also as critical. Substack provides a free(!) platform for CBBToday to live on in newsletter form. The immediate plan is to NOT charge any fees for the newsletter.
However, there are going to be slight changes in coverage, especially since CBBToday is no longer a functioning website, but a newsletter.
We won’t be doing any aggregated news. Posts will be similar to, but not as outlandish as, the Column of Enchantment series. There will be guest posters here and there as well. Still, everything you receive in your inbox, or via visiting the Substack page, will be original content.
You’ll be investing — if you choose to not unsubscribe — in me: Joseph Nardone the person, college basketball writer, sometimes podcaster, wanna-be fiction writer, etc. If you don’t know me personally, but only through CBBToday, I’m currently in a fancy position of power at CP, and a contributor over at Forbes.
I won’t take it personal if you unsubscribe, as many of you likely only did so for the wide range of topics covered on CBBToday.
The Newsletter of Enchantment won’t be as wide in covering topics, as it’ll only be a weekly posting. In it, though, we’ll cover college basketball, update you on numerous happenings, link you to relevant stories and ramble… especially ramble.
My goal for CBBToday was numerous folds, but the largest of which was creating a communal feel. Not being just some website attempting to Google-whore its way to relevance. By doing away with domain fees, and losing money, maybe we can do that here.
Maybe I fail… again. Maybe not. I promise you, my heart is in the right place.
For transparency sake, you can email me questions, concerns or comments over at JosephNardoneIS@gmail.com or hit me up on Twitter @JosephNardone.
This is only an introductory post, to hopefully not catch people too off guard. Allow people to unsubscribe if they want to. Moving forward, starting on Monday, it’ll go back to being a barely about college basketball college basketball column.
Until then, college basketball… kinda.
